RUNESCAPE TIPS

The following are just one way to tackle how to play Runescape.

Firstly, if you have not already seen the site, and do not know what it is about, here is the link: www.runescape.com

On it, read the warning about buying RUNESCAPE items with real cash/cheques/paypal/etc, you will lose your RUNESCAPE account if and when they catch you. Hence if any adverts appear on my site that entice you to buy runescape items for real money, ignore them, or even better, report them to Google as being fraudulent (as they sell you something that you cannot use when your account gets killed off, and they do not give a hoot so long as they got your money first). This does not apply to the advert for the information on how to LEGALLY increase your Runescape gold peices, by your own efforts, not from buying it, from advanced-runescape.com. I have not actually read it, so I am not endorsing it either. I would rather work things out for myself, then write the results here for others to benefit from.

Runescape must be good, I have just upgraded the whole family (as at end of March 2007, well the males anyway, females never see to be interested in this kind of activity). Paying for a year via paypal means it cost £35.03 or less than £3 a month. They do say that paying by credit card monthly at £3.20 is the cheapest option, but they mean cheapest of the monthly paying options. Paying by phone bill or other means can cost up to $8 or £4 a month. If upgrading your youngsters, especially for a year, make sure they realise that if they break the rules, they may have the account deleted by the Runescape management, with no refund, so wasting the £35 just spent. No begging, no swearing, no scamming or tricking people into the WILDERNESS to kill them, etc.

Latest news from the site (August 2007), to quote "...later this month we release a player kit update. During the first week or so of launch we will make all costume, haircut and arm guard changes totally free, just so you can have a bit of fun without it denting your pocket". I point out to new players, that the pocket-denting refers to the "gold pieces" tokens, not real money, so do not panic!

RUNESCAPE TIPS

1. Do not go into the WILDERNESS with rare stuff like RUNE, ADAMANT or MITHRIL items because other people can attack you and kill you, and take all your stuff, except the three most expensive items.

2. Beware of people who say they will help you, and take you to somewhere, but really take you to the WILDERNESS and kill you for your items. Such as HUSSIEN 745.
It is worth reporting such people if you do get tricked, it is against the RUNESCAPE rules. At least they may be punished by the RUNESCAPE moderators and save other members having the same happen to them.

3. To get money and equipment (a few coins, swords, shields and mining ore for example) kill GOBLINS or DWARVES, but be careful if you are not a high enough COMBAT LEVEL, as they may end up killing you!

4. If a high enough smelting or crafting level, you can make equipment, like swords, pots, cakes or chainmail body armour, for your self or to sell in one of the GENERAL STORES, and make a profit.

Back again (21/4/7) as promised, here is a useful tip to save money.
5. If you have a membership, and have built a house (you start off in RIMMINGTON as a beginner) you will find it very expensive making stuff out of PLANKS, let alone buying rooms.
Fortunately, if you get to PORT KHAZARD and visit the DEAD TREE on the left of the ANVIL building, then you will find 2 PLANKS, one on either side of the tree. They replenish after 15 seconds or so, when you take them, so this saves you 200 COINS which it would otherwise cost if you bought them from the SAWMILL OPERATOR outside of VARROCK. This means that you get about 400 planks an hour, saving 4000 COINS (GP or Gold Pieces as they are often called).

Ths is useful to practise construction if you get a WORKSHOP or visit someone's house with a workshop. That way you can make stuff that yo do not have ROOMS for yet, so allowing you to increase your CONSTRUCTION LEVEL.

Of course, it does cost you 1600 coins to get a chartered boat direct to PORT KHAZARD from the Port at the North on Brimhaven, it is cheaper to go to WITCHAVEN and walk down the coast to get to where the planks are. If you did this, you would have to pass through ARDOUGNE to get to PORT KHAZARD.
